Marriage Licenses
Both parties should come to the Moore County Register of Deeds office, (910) (947-6370). Both the bride-to-be and bridegroom-elect need identification, including a Social Security number.
Applicants under the age of 16 are prohibited to marry in North Carolina, and proof of divorce is required for divorced applicants, if divorced less than a year, including the month and year of their last divorces.
The fee is $50, and the license is good for 60 days. The document must be returned to the Register of Deeds Office in the county where it was issued.
A marriage license may be obtained in any county in North Carolina and the licensed couple may be married in any county in the state. The marriage does not have to take place in the same county where the license was obtained.
Marriage licenses are issued between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding holidays.
The register of deeds can also help with local birth and death certificates, as well as property transfers or military discharges.
