Moore County: A Great Place to Live
For more than 100 years, Moore County, which spans a total land area of 698 square miles, has been recognized as one of the best places to live in the U.S.
According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, the county ranked 26th out of 100 counties, with a homeownership rate of 78.5 percent.
From quaint cottages in a historic district of a village, to lavish homes overlooking pristine golf courses in a gated, country club community, Moore County offers a wide range of homes in all price ranges.
In 2005, the American Community Survey reported that five percent of the homes in Moore County were valued at more than $500,000. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a fair amount of affordable housing throughout the county.
In the same period, 45 percent of the homes were valued under $125,000. The N.C. Realtors Association reported that the median home sale price in 2007 was $230,000. Condos and townhouses sold for a median price of $167,500.
With an assortment of beautiful houses available throughout the county, as well as a wide selection of highly qualified builders, Moore County continues to buck the housing trends as more and more people are drawn to the Sandhills.
In fact, Moore County ranks 31st in North Carolina’s 100 counties by percentage of growth in new residential structures, according to the U.S. Census.
